Wow! This whole story has become a slice of pop culture gone bad. The characters in
the story: the Miss USA beauty pageant, a contestant in said pageant, a judge in said pageant .. then the madness begins. The rants abound.
The Miss USA pageant states that “the homegrown contest has evolved into a powerful, year-round, international organization that advances and supports opportunities for these young women“. Oh, ok. Because from where I sit, it looks like a beauty contest whereby the winners happen to get to speak about their platform between signing autographs and taking pictures at malls around the country. They go on to aver that the contestants are ” are savvy, goal-oriented and aware.” Hmmmm. Well, so here is savvy Miss California, who presumably is aware of the current events in her home state, and she is asked a question about gay marriage.
Next there is Perez Hilton, who by the way is known solely to most of us as a regurgitator of pop culture garbage that we are obsessed with in this country. That, by the way, is less an insult of Hilton than an indictment on our country. The fact that we even know his name is a tad bit atrocious. Nevertheless, he was chosen as a judge for the recent edition of Miss USA. Chosen by Donald Trump, who knows a few things about capitalism, self-promotion, and sleazy propositions to bathing beauties.
Next, Miss CA gives a clunky answer regarding gay marriage … and (cue circus music) .. the rant begins.
- Carrie .. you do have the right to speak your mind. However, you were in a PAGEANT. You are ALWAYS judged by your answers … check the rule book.
- Perez did more damage to the gay-marriage debate than good by his over the top reaction.
- Carrie (Part II) … careful who you side with here. Doing an interview with Focus on the Family just before it is revealed that a) you altered your God-given body by inserting silicone in your breasts (paid for by pageant coordinators in the pageant in which you gave your opinion for which you think you were then punished), and b) NAKED photos of you are released on the internet.
- NOM gets involved now. A different rant for a different month, but here’s the basic premise of my rant there: FOCUS ON WHAT IS WRONG WITH INSTITUTION OF MARRIAGE NOW (aka 50% fail rate, adultery at nearly as high rate, etc.) and quit worrying that (gasp) someone might marry WHOMEVER they want without your permission. Better use of time.
- Enter Donald Trump. The ‘owner’ of the pageant (and you too Carrie). A man of relentless … ahem … decision-making … has to decide if she can keep her title. And … The Naked Apprentice .. is … NOT fired! Wow .. I’m shocked (if you could see my face, you would appreciate my smartassness.) Despite breaking multiple ‘rules’, The Donald decides ‘hey, it’s the age of the internet, kids make mistakes, she’s a nice girl, I’m getting bored with my current wife anyway (ok .. I made up that last part, but still), etc., etc.’
- Carrie (Part III) calls in her beloved and deceased grandfather who fought in World War II so that she could exercise her “freedom of speech” and not be “punished”. First, I pray that your dear Grandfather is more tolerant than you … or he is rolling over in his grave since he also (apparently) fought for your freedom to show us your boobs. Moreover, here is the part that gets me ranting the most:
YOUR ACTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU ARE LEGALLY PROTECTED, MORALLY RIGHT (OR WRONG), OR YOUR BOSS HAS THE ETHICS OF THE COMMON WEASEL.
Miss California, you stand behind multiple entities to claim your righteousness. Why don’t you just allow your words to be your righteousness? If that doesn’t work, well maybe your righteousness is not deserved.
Miss California = ad nauseam

Rant on, momma! I love a good rant. This story is ripe with possibilities! Thanks for cruising by!
I’m still shocked that pageants exist, period. They are so bulls*** – come on, who really believes that they are about empowering women? They are about who’s prettier and who has the better boobs, let’s stop trying to pretend otherwise. pathetic. Pathetic, that they still exist and even more pathetic that they attract so much attention.
As you can see, I’m in ranting more too
